Now that the Christmas hype is over, I’m going to be lounging around waiting for the new year to kick in. Some of us don’t have to go back to work till the New Year, so we have ample time to re-evaluate our lives. We all should have gotten what we wanted under the Christmas tree, right? If we didn’t get it from the love of our lives, we can definitely get it ourselves. Although you may have hinted for the past three months and yet they did not get the picture. You were probably stressing out wondering if he/she will get you what you want for Christmas. And that stressing may have led to you overreacting and maybe snapping at everyone. But then again you may have had a plan B and got it for yourself anyway just in case. I’m sure you were meticulous in getting them their present and got exactly what they wanted. Maybe you need to be more obvious next time. Like leave little poems and clues all around the house. It should work next time.

If you want crappy things to stop happening to you then stop letting them happen to you. We all have a bad habit of letting people walk all over us and we say yes to everything instead of saying no first. We always play it out in our head as to how we would react to someone asking us to do something for them and it usually never plays out. It will go well too in your head. You would even have a good reason as to why you can’t do it but it never works out. Your initial response usually is sure why not. But deep down you’re like what did I do, why did I do that. We definitely have to work on ourselves.

The new year is approaching and we have to work on ourselves and not worry about everyone else. We probably realize that we’ve been saying that every year right? You’ve been letting this stress you out and it’s sometimes the simplest things. But our happiness is what is more important. Let’s not go into the new year stressed out. Let’s go into the new year thinking positive. One positive thought in the morning gives us a better outlook on life. If we begin our day thinking positive, we must end the day thinking positive. This is our ultimate goal isn’t it, learning to be experts in making ourselves better.

You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind – Joyce Meyer
