Quick question: when was the last time you celebrated something small?
Not a promotion or a big birthday. Something small. Getting through a hard conversation. Sticking to your budget for a whole week. Hitting send on something that scared you.
If you’re anything like me, you probably moved straight on to the next thing without a second thought. Let’s change that together.
Why We Skip the Small Stuff
Many of us were taught not to brag. Stay humble. Don’t make a fuss. And somewhere along the way, that turned into not even acknowledging our progress to ourselves.
We wait for the big win to feel proud. But the big wins are built entirely out of small ones. If we never notice the small ones, we never feel like we’re getting anywhere.
Saying It Out Loud Changes Something
There’s a difference between quietly knowing you did something and saying it out loud. When you say, “I did that, and I’m proud of it,” you’re practicing being seen, even if only by yourself at first.
That practice matters. Because the day will come when you need to speak up for your work, your ideas or your worth. It helps if you’ve already had some practice saying good things about yourself.
Ways to Celebrate Your Small Wins
- Keep a wins list. A page in your journal just for things that went right. Read it on the hard days.
- Tell one person. Pick someone who will cheer for you, and share one win a week.
- Mark the moment. A favorite coffee, a walk, a cupcake with a candle in it. Silly? Maybe. Worth it? Absolutely.
- Drop the “just.” Not “I just finished it.” Say “I finished it.”
Your Turn
Before you close this page, name one thing you did this week that you’re proud of. Say it out loud if you can. Write it down if you can’t.
You don’t have to wait for permission to be proud of yourself. You’ve been showing up. That deserves to be celebrated.
So tell me, what are you celebrating this week? Whatever it is, I’m clapping for you over here.
